We are working with the following list of beta locations, installing Signs, customizing Corktop and working together to create solutions that just work for each of their unique needs.
Purdue ECE Industrial Affiliates Outreach Program
Number of Signs: 5 initially, expanding to 10-15
Location: Purdue Electrical Engineering Building, West Lafayette, Indiana
Currently, each Industrial Affiliate has access to a bulletin board in the main hallway of the Electrical Engineering Building to post job opportunities, upcoming events, and other relevant information about their company. The majority of these bulletin boards go unused due to the administrative overhead it takes to update and keep them current. This project will replace the bulletin boards with digital signs, enabling each affiliate to update their sign remotely through RedPost's Corktop software.
Maui Community Advertising
Number of Signs: 40 initially
Location: Island of Maui, Hawaii
With a resident population just over 100,000 people, Maui is home to many small, artistic communities like with a thriving cultural scene. The current best method of communicating what's going on is bulletin boards and local print media. By focusing first on local grocery and health food stores and then expanding to coffee shops, restaurants,and other venues, this project aims to increase awareness of local events as well as build sustainability of those events by increasing attendance.
Attraks local advertising system
Number of Signs: 3-5 initially
Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada
Attraks Alternative Advertising, an ad agency focused on advertising through new mediums, including coffee sleeves, email, and car wraps, is expanding their advertising systems to include digital signage. By installing Signs in salons, cafes, and other local venues, Attraks will provide their clients with a new advertising medium to help cut through the clutter and reach their customers where they work, live, and play on a daily basis.
Argonne National Laboratory Internal Communication
Number of Signs: 8-12
Location: Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL
The Mathematics and Computer Science Division and the Leadership Computing Facility within ANL will place multiple signs around their new and existing facilities to display information such as activity on their supercomputers, upcoming events, and other internal communication. Long term plans include extending the open source Linux software that runs the Signs to recognize bluetooth cell phones and communicate customized information to individual users when they're within range of the Sign.
Inter-cubicle Communications
Number of Signs: 1
Location: Google Headquarters, Mountain View, CA
Marc, a Google engineer, will display photos and other personal information on his Sign for his fellow cube-mates to enjoy.
Communication with Patients at Maple City Health Care Clinic
Number of Signs: 1
Location: Goshen, Indiana
Founded in 1988, this Goshen-based health care clinic provides affordable health care for low-income residents of Goshen. Operating out of a renovated fire station donated by the City of Goshen, the clinic provides over $500,000 worth of medical, counseling, and social services each year. One constant challenge the clinic faces is providing timely information to patients. To this end, they have installed a RedPost/Sign in their waiting room and keep the Sign updated with the latest information in both Spanish and English.
